What is the difference between a credit card and debit card?
Answered By Chuck Ivens, Editor
A credit card is assigned to a specific
cardholder, which bears an account number,
and is used in purchasing goods or services
on credit. The issuer-bank sets a credit
limit, and bills the cardholder for the
repayment of credit that was extended. A
debit card works just like an electronic
check and looks similar to a credit card. The
payment for purchased goods or services is
directly deducted from the cardholder's
savings or checking account.
