Is it necessary to use MICR toner for printing checks?
Answered By Chuck Ivens, Editor
Yes, it is necessary to use MICR toner for
printing checks. In the first place, Magnetic
Ink Character Recognition (MICR) is created
especially for printing checks. The very
principal purpose of a MICR is for printing
the routing and accounting information found
on bank checks and other important negotiable
instruments. The process involves the use of
a magnetic ink to print special fonts in
order to create a readable-information for a
much quicker processing of certain documents.
The MICR toner provides a high level of
security and therefore minimizes check fraud.
