What information should I have printed on my personal checks?

Can you answer Jack's question about Checks?:

It's time to reorder. I remember reading that to reduce the chance of identity theft, do not print your phone number on your checks. Also, I thought it said to print initials only, not full name. Anything else? This begs the question, why print anything on your checks? No name, address, etc. Why not?

The only reason to print anything on your checks is to show merchants that you have an actual address. This they need to know in case the check bounces and they need to contact you to demand payment. If you don't print your address, they will have you write it down every single time you write a check. Using an initial for your first name(s) is good. NEVER include your phone number or Driver's License number.
